Asthma & Allergy Specialists Combines Decades of Experience With Personalized Care
For nearly four decades, Asthma & Allergy Specialists has helped patients and families manage allergies, asthma, and respiratory conditions while maintaining a commitment to personalized care.
Since opening in 1987, the practice has expanded its team, services, and locations to meet the growing need for specialized care throughout the Charlotte area. Today, with four locations, the team continues to build on its original mission of making every patient feel seen, heard, and understood.
That philosophy is reflected in the practice's tagline, “Large enough to serve you, small enough to know you.”
While medical advances have changed how certain conditions are diagnosed and treated, the importance of understanding each patient's individual needs has remained the same.
Asthma & Allergy Specialists provides care for a wide range of conditions, including environmental allergies, food allergies, asthma, eczema, chronic cough, hives, sinus conditions, and other immune-related concerns. The clinical team includes two allergists, two pediatric pulmonologists, and a nurse practitioner, allowing the practice to address conditions that may be closely connected.
Allergic and respiratory symptoms often overlap, making it important to consider a patient's overall health rather than focus on a single concern. By evaluating the bigger picture, providers can develop coordinated treatment plans that address each patient's symptoms, needs, and long-term goals.
The practice also offers a variety of diagnostic and treatment options to support that individualized approach.
Spirometry helps providers evaluate lung function, while allergy testing can identify environmental or food allergens that may contribute to symptoms. Depending on the patient's condition, treatment may involve medication management, allergy shots, or biologic therapies.
Having these services available within the practice allows the team to adjust treatment as patients' needs change rather than rely on the same approach for everyone.
That flexibility is especially important because Asthma & Allergy Specialists treats patients at different stages of life, from infants and young children to adults and grandparents.
A toddler managing food allergies may need a very different approach than a teenager with asthma or an adult experiencing chronic sinus symptoms. For younger patients, the team focuses on creating a comfortable environment while helping parents understand their child's condition and treatment options.
For adolescents and adults, care often emphasizes long-term symptom management, prevention, and maintaining quality of life.
Regardless of age, patient education remains an important part of the process. The team wants patients and families to understand their conditions, feel comfortable asking questions, and have the tools they need to manage symptoms in everyday life.
Beyond providing treatment, Asthma & Allergy Specialists places particular importance on building relationships with the people it serves. Having cared for multiple generations of families, the practice recognizes the value of trust and familiarity in creating a positive patient experience.
Its continued growth has allowed the team to offer more services and greater convenience while preserving the welcoming atmosphere that has shaped the practice since its earliest years.
Dr. Offerle, who joined Asthma & Allergy Specialists in September 2025, brings a fresh perspective to the longstanding practice, including an interest in expanding services available to patients.
“Our number one goal is for every patient to feel seen, heard, and understood,” Dr. Offerle said. “We take the time to listen, understand each patient's unique concerns, and create treatment plans that fit their lifestyle, goals, and health needs.”
That commitment to patient care has also earned community recognition, including a bronze distinction in Charlotte's Best.
For the providers and staff, however, the focus remains on helping patients feel supported throughout their care. Whether someone is seeking answers about recurring symptoms or managing a long-term condition, the goal is to provide clear information, thoughtful treatment, and a relationship they can rely on.
As Asthma & Allergy Specialists approaches four decades of service, its mission remains centered on the individual. By combining clinical experience, diagnostic capabilities, and a personal approach, the practice continues to help patients and families breathe easier, feel better, and live more comfortable, active lives.
