After graduating from the University of South Carolina’s Honors College, Melanie graduated from Queens University's Accelerated Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing program. She completed a critical care nursing residency program and spent six years as a nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. Most of this time was spent as a charge nurse and a code nurse, directing rapid responses and stabilizing patients. During her time in the hospital, she developed three projects to decrease hospital acquired infections and was awarded three hospital-wide awards and two system-wide awards. After seeing the amount of preventable causes of hospital admissions, she felt led to go back to school and become a Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington with her Master’s of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner and is certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. After completing a specialty rotation in asthma, allergy, and immunology, she knew that was where she was supposed to be. Melanie enjoys working with patients of all ages with a wide spectrum of allergic and immune diseases. Her clinical interests include: food and environmental allergies, atopic dermatitis and other skin disorders, and asthma. She is a member of the Metrolina Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.
Melanie is a Charlotte native and in her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and puppy. She enjoys cooking, spending time outside, reading, and art.
