In addition to ensuring her patient’s quality of life through appropriate and fun nutrition, Raquel serves the food allergic community, as a medical adviser for the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Connection Team (FAACT) and the International FPIES Association (I-FPIES). As well she is an active member of the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology (AAAAI) serving as a member of the Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disorders, Adverse Reactions to Foods and International Network for Diet and Nutrition in Allergy committees. Raquel also lends her expertise to provide patient education to the non-profits American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders (Apfed) and Campaign Urging Research for Eosinophilic Disorders (CURED).

To further serve the food allergic community, Raquel hosts a grant funded summer camp, sponsored patient conferences and quarterly educational sessions. She also facilitates a support group for patients/caregivers with eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders.

To fulfill her love of teaching, Raquel is a site preceptor for dietetic interns from Winthrop and Appalachian State Universities and Meredith College.
